The St. Suspicion falls on Rory when the body buried in her flowerbed turns out to be someone she knows-her tole painting teacher, Hester Bouquet. In Power was elected member of the Royal Society of British Artists and established a studio with Andrews in Hammersmith close to the River Thamesa location which inspired many prints by both artists, most notably 'The Eight' by Power and 'Bringing in the Boat' by Sybil Andrews. James, who has written of her skill at capturing movement, tension and mood through colour and form and of how the truthfulness of her vision 'draws us so powerfully to her art'. Nevertheless, in the contemporary art world the linocut is an established professional print medium, because of its extensive use by the artists of the Grosvenor School, followed by Pablo Picasso and Henri Matisse.

From the Hudson River School to American Impressionism, the exhibition provided a strong overview of artistic practice in the United States from the Civil War to the turn of the last century. Others may look for a cross-section of work by a number of artists or within a particular school of art. Linocuts can also be achieved by the careful application of arts on the surface of the lino. This creates a surface similar to a soft ground etching and these caustic-lino plates can be printed in either a reliefintaglio or a viscosity printing manner.

In a career curtailed by an early death, Ravilious also played a significant role as a designer; Powers argues that Ravilious showed how decoration and historical reference could find a place in the reform of the applied arts whilst simultaneously renewing a sense of national identity.

Computer programmer and tole-painting enthusiast Aurora Rory Anderson doesn't envision finding either when she steps outside to investigate the frenzied yipping coming from her own backyard. Some collectors will seek out low numbers from an edition run, but these are not necessarily as important as they do not reflect the order in which the prints were made, just the order in which the artist signed them.

Typical works by Terry Frost, using his mixed blocks of primary colours, and Bridget Riley's black and white, optical illusion prints can command healthy sums these days, although less typical monochrome works by Frost have not performed so strongly.

The following years saw many more joint exhibitions until the dissolution of their artistic working partnership in July when they gave up their studio. As sculptors they tend to be masters of the editioning process, bringing to bear their sculptural craftsmanship, and this lends itself well to the production of prints.

Andrews moved to her cottage 'Pipers', near Lymington on the Hampshire coast which Power had modernised and enlarged the previous year. When I was reading the sections describing what she had done to her daughter, I was literally beating my head with the book and saying "That's so fucked up!

On view included prints by Anders Zorn; a significant group of images by European artists associated with Art Nouveau; a group of early California landscape prints; and linocuts by Belle Baranceanu—a key figure in the history of printmaking in San Diego.
